![]() ![]() The gospel brings great goods into our lives. Series: Bible: What We Are Receiving: The Gospel Goods. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on February 14, 2016. Let’s ask the text three questions: 1) Why do we need hope in the face of death? 2) How can we get hope in the face of death? and 3) If we have it, how do we use it and increase it in our life? It talks about hope in the face of death. ![]() And therefore, you severely need what this text talks about. No matter how young you are, no matter how your life’s been going up to now, I can say, without fear of contradiction, that there is a lot of death in your future. The great enemy of the human race is death. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on February 21, 2016. Let’s notice 1) the ordinariness, 2) the violence, and 3) the vicariousness. Let’s look at three ways in which it’s so surprising, and see what this teaches about the salvation Jesus Christ brings. It subverts every human category of thought about salvation. But then, here in chapter 52 and 53, he says this person has no majesty. Then Isaiah starts talking about a servant. Up until now, Isaiah indicates that God’s going to send a great king to put things right in the world. If you’re reading through the book of Isaiah, you get to this passage and you’re shocked. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on November 14, 2019. These four headwinds are 1) the problem of attention, 2) the problem of comprehension, 3) the problem of attraction, and 4) the problem of the spectrum. There are four headwinds to sharing our faith today. And just like Jesus, Christians have got to be mighty in both word and deed. However, now I’ve got to say, “But you’ve got to open your mouth and tell people in whose name you’re doing it.” Jesus was mighty in word and deed. The last 10 years of my ministry life in New York City, everybody wants to do justice-and that’s great. You can’t just do word-you’ve got to do deed.” The first 30 years of my ministry life, I spent most of my time saying, “You’ve got to care about the poor. Rebecca McLaughlin at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on November 14, 2019. But we must do all these things with humility and not by watering the scriptures down, but by lapping them up. ![]() ![]() We must reclaim 1) diversity, 2) the university, 3) morality, and 4) sexuality. I believe we have an opportunity before us. When we look more closely at each of these devastating roadblocks, they become signposts to Christ. But if that's what we think, I believe we've got it all wrong. It's tempting to think that the best thing Christians can do is batten down the hatches and cling on for dear life, while the waves of secularization wash over us. In this cultural moment, when our non-Christian friends look at the Christian faith, they often see a history of racism, an anti-intellectual mindset, homophobia, and the denigration of women. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on June 3, 1992. Jesus tells us 1) something new about wealth and 2) something new about moral goodness. Jesus turns our common notions about wealth and goodness on top of their heads and he gives us new ones-ones that are explosively in contradiction with what the world thinks, but ones that, if we obey them, have the power of God exploding in our midst. The rich young ruler is not only rich, but he’s also a man of exquisite moral character. And in the story of the rich young ruler, Jesus says two hard things: he says our understanding of riches and our understanding of moral goodness are wrong. ![]()

![]() Lots of companies make hay racks, but I was unable to find one that was designed to be moved around pastures with the animals. Seeing all of the goats and Maggie sleeping in their nests was very cut, but hay is expensive, and that was going to waste a lot of it.įrom the couple of days I spent carrying hay out to the goats I could tell doing that every morning was going to get really old really quickly, so I started thinking about making a portable hay rack. After that time, the goats had knocked over the doghouse, spread the hay all over the ground, and they and Maggie had made little nests in the hay in which to sleep. That strategy worked for somewhere between three and five minutes. Since we’re new at all this we started by placing a hay bale on top of a dog house thinking that LGD Maggie Mae could get some shelter and the hay would stay up off the ground. So basically we had to start feeding some hay. The temps here have been in the teens this week – no higher than 28☏ on any day – and have been in the single digits at night. ![]() I thought we were going to be able to make it until January before we had to feed any hay, but we’ve had such a cold snap here lately that the grass is fading fast. So this year we will have to feed hay to supplement the browsing and grazing of the goats. In the future we hope to be able to graze our ruminants year round without supplemental hay except in the worst years but we have to get our pastures into much better shape before that can happen. Winter feeding of hay is the number one operating expense in most livestock operations, so we want to minimize the amount of hay we have to feed and utilize the hay we feed as efficiently as possible through good management and decision making. I’m not supposed to do anything real strenuous yet and since all the things I had planned for this winter were “heavy duty” moving or building I decided to make providing for our goats a little easier on us and a lot less wasteful of hay. ![]() Well, I’m still on “light duty” from my appendectomy. Fancy, Ebony, and Ivory are thrilled with their new hayrack. ![]() ![]() ![]() Prior to the formation of CSN, each member of the band had belonged to another prominent group. The band's first album with Young, Déjà Vu, reached number one on several international charts in 1970, and remains their best-selling album, going on to sell over eight million copies with three hit singles: " Woodstock", " Teach Your Children", and " Our House". The band, performing as Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, played the Woodstock festival that August. In preparation for touring, the trio added Stills' former Buffalo Springfield bandmate Neil Young as a full member, along with touring members Dallas Taylor (drums) and Greg Reeves (bass). Issued in November 1979 as the album's second single – following up Warwick's top ten comeback hit " I'll Never Love This Way Again" – "Déjà Vu" rose to number 15 on the US Billboard Hot 100, number 25 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and number one on the Adult Contemporary chart in early 1980. To recap, virtual reality includes immersing ourselves in a computer-generated virtual realm with which we may interact. This is what we think of as virtual reality. Such additional sensory inputs, together with certain specific sensory information processing by our brains, guarantee a high transfer of signals from the surroundings to our human thoughts.Īlthough we talk about our surroundings originating through our sensations, one might be shown a version of reality that is not true yet looks like it from their viewpoint. Humans, on the other hand, have many more sensations than this, including a feeling of balance. Although, they are merely our primary visible sensory organs. Touch, taste, smell, eye-sight, and listening are the five senses we studied in primary school. Our senses and perceptual abilities furnish us with data from all across the world. Therefore, the word “virtual reality” critically suggests “close reality.” It alludes to a certain type of realistic simulation. The theory about virtual reality is obtained from the meanings of the terms “virtual” and “reality.” The meaning of ‘virtual’ is close i.e., near, and reality is what we witness as individuals in our daily lives.
